Appeal Summary
Appeals are the solicitations used to bring in gifts, such as direct mailings, online donation pages, phonathons, auctions, or events. To quickly analyze the effectiveness of an appeal, view the pertinent statistics about the giving it acquired over the past five years under Appeal summary on its record.
Tip: With the Revenue type filter, you can choose whether to include revenue received through cash-in-hand giving or committed through pledges and matching gifts. For more information, see Revenue and Recognition.
Under Appeal summary, you can quickly track the money given in response to the solicitation.
-
Revenue — How much the appeal acquired.
-
Gifts — How many gifts the appeal acquired.
Tip: To view a list of gifts the appeal acquires, select either total. For further analysis, select Create list to open the list in Lists, where you can apply additional filters, choose columns, and save for future reuse. For more information, see Lists.
To help identify the typical gift amount given in response to the appeal, Average gift divides the revenue amount by the number of gifts.
To help determine whether the appeal attracts mostly larger or smaller gifts, Median gift provides the middle gift amount. Half of the gifts received are above this amount, and half are below.
If the appeal struggles to acquire gifts, consider the Appeals Best Practices.
