Matching Gifts
Many corporations — around 65% of Fortune 500 companies — offer matching gift programs, where they match employees' giving to eligible nonprofits. With matching gifts, your organization can maximize your constituents' giving with essentially free additional gifts. For examples and recommendations, see Matching Gifts Best Practices.
Under Giving on an individual's constituent record, you can view the summary of matching gifts committed to and received from their employer. Their lifetime giving amount only includes their gifts. It does not include the matching gift amounts their employer commits to donate.
Under Giving on an organization’s constituent record, you can view the pledged amount under to and received through its matching gift program. Their lifetime giving amount includes the amounts they match after fulfilling their commitment.
On a gift record, you can view details about related corporate gifts under Matching gifts. For each matching gift, you can view its corporation, how much was pledged or received (and when), and the fund it applied toward.
Tip: For more information about the corporation or their matching gift, select their name or match amount to open the constituent or gift record.
On the record of the corporation’s matching gift pledge, you can view details about their payments toward the commitment under Pledge payments. For each payment, you can view how much (and when) they matched and how much was left to pay (if any).
Note: In the database view, you manage matching gifts and matching gift pledges from Gifts. From a constituent record, you can select whether an organization relationship matches their gifts and at what percentage. You can also set business rules to automatically credit constituents for matching gifts received due to their giving.
