Use the Active Dates Field
Use the Active Dates field to filter query results for records that were active at any point during a date range you specify. The filter is available for the following record types wherever they appear in the query:
-
Constituent Code
-
Relationships
-
Appeals
In single-row queries, you can add Active Dates as a filter from either Criteria or Output.
-
A filter on Criteria determines which records the query returns.
-
A filter on Output determines which related records appear for each returned record.
Active Dates is a filter, not an output field. To view a record's date range in your results, add its start and end date fields to Output.
How Active Dates Works
A record is active during the active date range:
-
If both Date From and Date To have values, the record is active between those two dates.
-
If Date From is blank, the record is active from the beginning of time through Date To.
-
If Date To is blank, the record is active from Date From onward, indefinitely.
Previously, filtering for records active during a specific period required combining two separate date filters. For example, you needed a filter equivalent to "Date To is blank OR Date To is on or after the start date" AND "Date From is blank OR Date From is on or before the end date." The Active Dates field replaces that manual logic with a single filter.
Add Active Dates Field to a Query
-
Open or create a query.
-
On the Criteria tab, or on the Output tab in a single-row query, select one of the following record types:
-
Constituent Code
-
Relationships
-
Appeals
-
-
Select Active Dates.
Note: Active Dates uses standard Specific Dates filtering. Select an active date range to filter on.
Active Dates is a web view-only field, so it's unavailable in database view queries. Database view can't open queries that include it either. For the full list of web view-only fields, see Query Fields Available Only in Web View.
