Donation Form Gift Options

To update the default gift type when using both one-time and recurring gifts on a form, make your selection under Default gift type in Options.

Under Ask ladder layout, you determine how gift amounts will display on the form or whether to give the donor the option to enter an amount they choose. Select a layout to change the arrangement of all gift amounts, both one-time and recurring gifts that are on the donation form.

• Horizontal ladder displays the amounts across the form.

• Vertical ladder displays the amounts down the form.

  Tip: Only the vertical ladder will display the description of the amount.

• Donor-entered amount only displays a place for the donor to enter their own gift amount. No other gift amounts are displayed.

• To change the button label for one-time gifts, make your updates under One-time gift button label.

• To make changes to the gift amounts, edit, add or delete the amounts under One-time gift amounts.

Note: To display gift amounts and allow donor s the option to enter their own gift amount, under Allow other amounts for one-time gifts, select Allow other amounts and enter a minimum gift amount. The recommended minimum amount is at least $5 to help prevent carding fraud.

Recurring gifts process on a regular schedule of the donor's choosing. For more information, see Recurring Gifts.

1. To change the button label for recurring gifts, make your updates under Recurring gift button label.

2. To make changes to the gift amounts, edit, add or delete the amounts under Recurring gift amounts.

3. To set a minimum gift amount, select Enable donors to enter other gift amounts. By default, the minimum amount is set to 5.

4. To let donors choose an end date for their recurring gifts, select Enable recurring gift end date.

5. Under Recurring gift frequencies, select the frequencies donors can choose.

• Weekly, Every two weeks, or Every four weeks — Payments process every seven, 14, or 28 days.

• Monthly - Payments process once a month, on the day of the initial payment. If the initial payment date is the 31st of the month, subsequent payments occur on the last available day.

• Quarterly - Payments process every three months.

• Annually - Payments process on the same date each year. If the date isn't available, such as during a leap year, the payment occurs on the prior available date.

5. Under First recurring payment will process, choose whether the first recurring gift processes on the date the donor submits the form or on the start date the donor chooses to begin their payments.

Warning: First recurring payments won't process until you approve batches. To ensure payments process on the date donors expect, you should approve batches every day.

Note: To display gift amounts and allow donors the option to enter their own gift amount, under Allow other amounts for recurring gifts, select Allow other amounts and enter a minimum gift amount. The recommended minimum amount is at least $5 to help prevent carding fraud.

You can set an option for donors to enter a gift amount of their choosing. Under Ask ladder layout, select Donor-entered amount only. This will be the only gift option visible to the donor.

If a horizontal or vertical ladder is selected, for each gift type you can select All other amounts and enter a minimum gift amount. A field for the donor to enter their gift amount will display along with the existing amounts. For more information, see One-time gifts and Recurring gifts.

The minimum gift amount also applies to Donor-entered amount only layout.
