Prepare for Standard Donation Forms Improved Checkout

This is an overview of how the improved checkout experience for Standard Donation Forms impacts your organization, so you know ahead of time what to expect. It's the same checkout and configuration used in Optimized Donation Forms. It improves the donor giving experience with no scheduled payments downtime, a new dynamic, secure, and PCI v4-compliant checkout, and easier transaction testing.

Apple Pay verification

With the improved checkout experience, embedded Standard Donation Forms use the same domain verification process for Apple Pay as Optimized Donation Forms. If you have completed domain verification for Optimized Forms, and use that same domain for embedded Standard Forms, no further action is needed.

Otherwise, you need to re-verify your payment domain in the Blackbaud Merchant Services Web Portal so donors can continue to use Apple Pay as a payment method after your organization receives the improved checkout experience.

Transaction and fee processing UI changes

If you are familiar with Optimized Donation Forms, you will find that transaction and fee processing in Standard Forms is the same configuration.

Tip: Don't see this yet? Don't worry, you can expect a wider release in a future update.

Transaction and fee processing configuration moves from the Get started tab to a new Payment and fees tab with new capabilities.

Configure payment and fee processing

By default, new forms you create are in test mode. You no longer have to change your payment configuration to accommodate test and live modes in your Blackbaud Merchant Services account. This enables you to test with or without creating one-time gift records in Raiser's Edge NXT.

After you test your forms, select Start processing donations so you can publicize your fundraising effort.

Note: Make sure you are ready to take donations before you select Start processing donations because you can't go back to test mode on that form.

Additional payment method support

To help you raise more, there are more payment methods for donors to choose from when they make their donations through Standard Donation Forms, regardless of the fee coverage option enabled on the form. Donors can pay with:

  • Google Pay and Apple Pay for their one-time and recurring gifts.

  • PayPal and Venmo for their one-time gifts.

Note: To continue to help offset fees for PayPal and Venmo transactions on Complete Cover-enabled forms, donor cover will display instead when a donor's payment method PayPal or Venmoand the transaction is less than $3,000.
