Refund Fee Coverage

You can refund credit and debit card transactions and their fee-covered amounts.

• For credit card transactions with Complete Cover™ fees, you can refund the fee amount toward Blackbaud or the full amount of the transaction.

• For credit and debit card transactions with donor cover fees, you can only refund the full amount of the transaction.

After you refund the gift, the amount refunded returns to the donor’s original payment method, and updates Blackbaud Merchant Services.

To refund the amount:

1. Find the constituent whose gift you want to refund.

   • Use Search to find the constituent,

   • Create a list of constituents from Constituents, Constituent lists, or

   • Create a list of gifts from Gifts, Gift lists.

2. To navigate to the gift record:

   • From the constituent record, under Giving history select the gift amount.

   • From a gift list, select the gift amount.

3. Select Refund.

   Note: For credit and debit card transactions with donor cover fees, you can only refund the full amount of the transaction.

4. Under Notes, you can add more details about the refund.

   Note: Notes that you enter display on the adjustment record in the database view.
