The Target gift range is an aggressive projection of how much a prospect can give over the next 12 months.
The Target gift range value is not necessarily the size of gift you should ask for. You might ask for a larger gift spread out over multiple years, or a smaller gift if you are aware of extenuating circumstances.
The main factors used to determine the Target gift range are:

Giving to other organizations

Wealth data

Socioeconomic data
Additional factors are considered to improve the projection's accuracy.
The Target gift range may be different than the Potential gift range if:

The prospect has a limited giving history with your organization

The prospect's assets are held by another entity, but they have given large amounts to your organization in the past
