Add an application

When you add an application, you are registering it with SKY Developer. This enables you to define add-ins and make SKY API calls. Registering your application also produces a unique set of credentials that will be used by Blackbaud customers during the authorization process.

For those who want to list their application in the Blackbaud Marketplace, this is the first step in that process. Even if you are building an application only for your own organization or to work directly with organizations and not list in the Blackbaud Marketplace, you still need to fill out all of the required fields. This helps environment admins identify your application on their Manage page.

To register your application, from the My Applications page, select Add.

The content you provide appears to Blackbaud customers when they connect your application to their Blackbaud environment. Don't worry, if you want to change anything later, you can edit these fields from the application's record page.

Enter a name for the application. This name distinguishes your application. The application name is limited to 150 characters. If you plan to be listed in the Blackbaud Marketplace, long names don't display well on the Marketplace cards, so try to be concise.

If your application name uses Blackbaud brand names, you must use them appropriately. To use “Blackbaud” or a Blackbaud solution in your application name, follow these guidelines:

Lead with the application followed by the Blackbaud brand name.

For example, use "[Application name] for Blackbaud" or "[Application name] for Blackbaud [Solution name]"

Use the correct Blackbaud brand names as shown on the Blackbaud website.

For example, use "[Application name] for Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT" and not "[Application name] for RE NXT."

Enter a description in Application details that summarizes and markets your application's unique solution to Blackbaud users. The details are limited to 300 characters.
For Which team owns this app?, all of your available Blackbaud teams appear. If your Blackbaud ID is associated with only one team, we default in the name for you. However, you can change that to "Not owned by a team," such as for testing purposes. If your Blackbaud ID is associated with more than one, select which one owns the application.
Add your publisher name. The name is limited to 150 characters and appears as the owner of the application in the Blackbaud Marketplace. For example, if a customer manually sideloads your application in the Marketplace to their Blackbaud environment, this is the name of the application publisher that the customer sees.
Add your application's logo. The image represents your application and should be clear, catchy, and unique. The image must be .jpeg or .png file that is 512px by 512px and 2MB or smaller.
Enter a URL in Application website URL that directs users to more about your solution. The URL is limited to 150 characters.
Select Save.
