BBDW Views

The underlying structure of a Blackbaud Data Warehouse database is a modified star schema or constellation. However, views of this structure enable you to work with the database as if it were built on a pure star schema. Because database complexity is abstracted at this level, views also simplify extensibility for a BBDW OLAP cube. Tables in the cube can point to views in the warehouse.

Constellations of related facts drastically reduce ETL processing time. This is because in a constellation structure, the process only loads related fact once for a given constellation. For more information about constellations, see Constellations. Views added in versions above 2.91 of Blackbaud Data Warehouse join these tables to create an abstracted view that follows a pure star schema.
