Install Blackbaud Data Warehouse

  1. From the web server, in \bbappfx\MSBuild\Datamarts, copy the folder to the SQL Server. For example, if C:\bbappfx\ is the installation directory, go to C:\bbappfx\MSBuild\Datamarts.
  2. On the SQL Server, from the Datamarts folder, run Deploy.vbs. The Blackbaud Data Mart Deployment Wizard screen appears.
  3. On the Data Mart tab, enter information about the data mart.
  4. In the Deployment folder field, a link appears to the Datamarts folder in your installation directory. The data mart deploys from this folder. To deploy from a different folder, click the link. The Browse For Folder screen appears. Select a folder and click OK.
  5. In the Data mart field, select a data mart type to deploy.
  6. In the Manifest file field, the location appears for the manifest file. This XML file contains metadata about the data mart installation. The deployment folder should contain this file.
  7. On Web Service tab, enter information about the application.
  8. In the Web service url field, enter the URL for the application web server. This is the virtual directory for the web application. Generally, the format is “http://[Server name]/[Virtual directory name].”
  9. In the Database field, enter the database name that appears in the select database prompt of the application login screen.
  10. On the Application Database tab, enter information about the application’s database.
  11. In the SQL Server field, enter the SQL Server instance for the application.
  12. In the Database field, enter the name of the application database.
  13. On the OLTP Database tab, enter information about the source database.
  14. In the SQL Server field, enter the SQL Server instance for the source database. To deploy the standard data mart, the source database must use SQL Server 2005 or higher.
  15. In the Database field, enter the name of the source database.
  16. On the Report Database tab, information appears about the ETL process that creates and updates records in the data mart.
  17. In the SQL Server field, enter the SQL Server instance for the data mart database.
  18. In the Database field, the name appears for the database that contains the data mart tables.
  19. For users with Blackbaud CRM, the OLAP Server field appears. Enter the SQL Server instance for the OLAP database.
  20. For users with Blackbaud CRM, the OLAP Database field appears with the name of the database that contains the OLAP cubes for the data mart.
  21. On the Report Database tab, enter the name of the SQL Server instance for the data mart database.
  22. On the User Account tab, enter credentials for a Microsoft Windows user account that will access the application database and the source database for the data mart. You can enter a domain account or a local machine account. This account runs the ETL process.
  23. In the Account name field, enter a user account. If the account does not have rights to communicate between the application and the data mart’s source, the deployment wizard will grant the necessary rights. If you enter a local machine user account that does not exist, the deployment wizard will create it.
  24. In the Password field, enter the password for the user account. The deployment wizard does not save this password. If you redeploy the data mart, you must re-enter the password.
  25. If you use a local machine user account, a box appears. Enter a list of the computers where you want to synchronize the account name and password.
  26. From Synchronize local machine accounts on these computers, enter the names of the SQL Server and Web Server machines. Click Next.
  27. To edit additional settings, click Edit advanced settings. The Edit Advanced Data Mart Settings screen appears.
  28. On this screen, you can view the settings from the deployment wizard and enter advanced settings. For a detailed description of the options on this screen, see Edit Advanced Data Mart Settings Screen.
  29. To deploy the data mart, on the Deploy tab, click Deploy. The deployment begins, and a status log appears.

  30. A log file that describes installation activity is created regardless of whether errors occur. You can find the installation log file in the \Local Settings\Temp folder for the user who installs the data mart. For example, if the administrator installs the data mart, the log is created in the C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp folder.
