Assign Static IP Addresses to Physical Network Adapters

Note: These steps show a manual process to assign a static IP address to a physical network adapter. These steps are included to demonstrate ground-up installations of an Infinity application in a two machine and three machine scenario.

  1. Navigate to Start > Network. Windows Explorer for Network appears.

  2. Click Network and Sharing Center.

  3. Click Change adapter settings. The Network Connections appear.

  4. Right-click the network connection and select Properties.

    The Properties screen appears.

  5. Highlight Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click Properties.

    The Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Properties screen appears.

  6. Assign static IP address and DNS server information as appropriate. For Microsoft's guidance for configuring IPv4 for static addressing on a DHCP server, see Configuring a DHCP server static IP address.
