When a new website user selects the Gift Aid checkbox on a donation web page and you process the donation to The Raiser’s Edge, the Indicator field on the constituent’s Gift Aid declaration defaults to “Electronic.”
Additionally, if the constituent already exists in The Raiser’s Edge, the constituent’s Gift Aid declaration updates to “Electronic.”
Note: To view the Indicator field in The Raiser’s Edge, click Declaration Information on the Bio 1 tab of a constituent record. For more information about Gift Aid in The Raiser’s Edge, see The Raiser’s Edge Regular Supporters Implementation Guide.
Electronic defaults because Gift Aid regulations (S.I. 2000 No 2074) require that a gift aid declaration be given by a donor to a charity in one of three ways:
a. Written
b. Oral
c. Electronic communication (for example, via website)
When a donor makes an oral declaration, written confirmation that a declaration has been given by a donor must be sent to HM Revenue & Customs. An electronic declaration eliminates the requirement to send written confirmation.
