You can use goals in Google Analytics to track conversions on your website. For example, you can create a goal to track the number of donations made on a particular donation page.
| 1. | From the Google Analytics website profiles page, click Edit for the website profile to configure. The Profile Settings page appears. |
| 2. | In the Main Website Profile Information section, click Edit. The Edit Profile Information Page appears. |
| 3. | Under Goals, click Add goal for the first set. The Goals (set 1) page appears. |
| 4. | Enter a goal name in the Goal Name field. |
| 5. | For the Active Goal, select On. |
| 6. | In the Goal position field, select the goal’s position within a set. |
| 7. | For the Goal type, select URL Destination. Additional options appear in the Goal Details section. |
| 8. | In the Match type field, select Regular Expression Match. |
| 9. | In the Goal URL field, enter the regular expression value for the goal. For example, all Blackbaud NetCommunity donation confirmation pages contain the value “DonationStep_Acknowledgement.” Because you selected the Regular Expression match type, any URLs that contain “DonationStep_Acknowledgement” count as a completed goal. For more information about how URLs are built for different part types, see Site Tracking URL Examples. |
| 10. | If your goal URL is case sensitive, select Case Sensitive. |
| 11. | In the Goal Value field, enter a numeric value. Google Analytics uses this value to calculate ROI, Average Score, and other metrics. |
| 12. | Click Save Goal. |
