Request a Backup
Organizations hosted by Blackbaud Cloud Operations can request a database backup once per month. Backups expire after seven days.

You can only download backup data you requested, not ones requested by other users at your organization.
Go to backups
To request a backup, go to the Backup Portal URL for your Blackbaud Altru environment. It'll follow this format:
https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/client-backup-tickets/?envid=ENVIRONMENT_ID&svcid=altru
Replace the ENVIRONMENT_ID placeholder with your Altru environment ID.
Tip: Don't know your ENVIRONMENT_ID? See the KnowledgeBase article "How to find my Environment ID?"
A history of backups will appear in a list.
Select Create backup. Then choose to use the latest backup or specify a date and time from the previous seven days. Consider specifying a backup time if you recently processed a large change and need to undo it.
Manage users and security roles for access permission
To manage backups, your user must have the Backup requests – Backup Administrators permissions role.
To manage users, log in to www.blackbaud.com and select Security. Then view the Blackbaud Altru roles. Enable the role for the appropriate users. For more details, see Roles.
View the history

Date submitted - shows the date and time when the request was made.

Backup time - shows the date and time of last data in the backup.

Submitter - shows the email address of the user who made the request.
Requests submitted by Blackbaud employees, including customer support, are listed as Blackbaud.
If you file a customer support ticket and they request a backup on your behalf, it counts towards your organization's quota limit (typically one per month). Blackbaud backups you didn't request aren't counted towards this limit.

Backup ticket status - shows whether the request is processing or complete.

Backup file status - shows whether the request is expired or the days until expiration.

Action - When a backup request is complete, it remains available for one week. You can only download backups that you requested; you can't download backups requested by other users. Select Download backup to access your completed backup.

Completed - Backup requests which are processed and available for download are complete.

Expired - Backups automatically expire after seven days. Expired backups are not available for download or use.

On-Demand Backups for Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT
You can request a backup from the Database view options page. To access, select Database, Database options. The On-demand backups tile displays the history of your backups and status.
Note: On-demand backups capture database view information only and are not intended for full database restoration.
Create a new request for a backup
Your organization can request one backup per month.

From the On-demand backups tile, select Request backup.

Select Create backup.

Review the Tenant ID of the database.
Tip: The Tenant ID displays under Details on the Database view options page.

Processing time varies based on the size of the database. You'll receive an email notification when it's ready. Use the link in the email to access your backup data. It expires after seven days.
Download backup information
You can download data for backups you requested. You can't access ones requested by other users. Backups expire after seven days.

When your requested backup is ready, you'll receive an email notification. You can select the link within the email. or locate your completed request in the list of backups and select Download backup.

For SAS URL, select Copy. You'll use this Shared Access Signature Uniform Resource Identifier (SAS URI) to retrieve your database backup from Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer.

Download and install Microsoft's free tool. Azure Storage Explorer - cloud storage management. Choose the version for your operating system.

Select Download certificate bundle. A zip file is saved to your local computer. It includes a TDE certificate and related files..

Unzip it to access your Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) certificate.

How to locate your data center
When creating a backup ticket, if you select a specific point in time for a backup, the product uses the Data center server’s date and time.
To determine which time zone your data center is in, go to the FTP Access Account Information tile on the Database view options page. To identify the server location, use the first three letters and numbers listed in the Server field.

S22 - West Europe (CEST)
S23 - Central Canada (EST)
S24 - Australia East (AEST)

Create a new request for a backup
Your organization can request one backup per month.
