What is the relationship between YourCause and The Blackbaud Giving Fund?

The Blackbaud Giving Fund is a 501(c)(3) public charity. It is a legal entity separate from and independent of Blackbaud.

Who is leading The Blackbaud Giving Fund organization?

The Blackbaud Giving Fund has its own corporate structure, with a Board of Directors and Executive Director overseeing and managing its activities and responsibilities. For more details, see The Blackbaud Giving Fund website.

What will The Blackbaud Giving Fund do with donor and company data, and how is my data being protected?

The Blackbaud Giving Fund will use data we collect to meet the legal reporting requirements of the IRS, as well as to further facilitate your requested transactions as may be necessary to manage contributions and grants. All of us at YourCause and The Blackbaud Giving Fund are keenly aware of the need for careful and prudent protection of client data. How will charities be vetted?

The Blackbaud Giving Fund has established appropriate standards and policies for the vetting of domestic and international nonprofits to ensure all grants we issue are within the requirements set forth by the IRS, the Department of Treasury, and other regulatory agencies. The vetting standard for grants to international organizations align with U.S. public charity equivalency requirements (known as Equivalency Determination).

How quickly will the funds be processed?

Payments to charities are generally within 5-7 days of being funded, or per existing agreements.

Will The Blackbaud Giving Fund take a percentage of the donations being processed?

No. The Blackbaud Giving Fund does not charge donors for their grant activity, so 100% of the funds you wish to provide a charity are delivered directly to the end charity (credit card processing fees excluded if applicable).

How will donor refunds be handled?

All gifts to The Blackbaud Giving Fund are irrevocable charitable contributions and The Blackbaud Giving Fund is prohibited from making payments (including refunds) to for-profit companies and nonoperating foundations.

Some U.S. organization types are listed as “subject to due diligence”. What does this mean?

For some U.S. organization types such as those operating under group exemption or for grant-making purposes, we will need additional due diligence completed to allow processing through The Blackbaud Giving Fund processing model. These steps can be completed by the nonprofit seamlessly through our Blackbaud Verified Network. Upon completion of due diligence, organizations will appear in CSRconnect as accepting donations.

Where can employees go to determine if U.S. nonprofits are eligible for giving?

All charity pages will indicate giving eligibility in accordance with The Blackbaud Giving Fund guidelines.

How long has The Blackbaud Giving Fund existed?

The nonprofit was founded in 2014 as DonateWell in partnership with GoodDoneGreat.

YourCause acquired GoodDoneGreat in 2017, and Blackbaud acquired YourCause in 2019. The partnership with DonateWell, which has been renamed The Blackbaud Giving Fund, is now leveraged by Blackbaud to facilitate and enhance donor capabilities.

Will private non-operating organizations that are in the process of obtaining public charity status be eligible for giving?

Yes, so long as the organization’s IRS Pub78 status has been updated to PC.
