Gradebook Setup
Before you set up your gradebook, we recommend you review the Getting Started Checklist.
As you set up your gradebook, the academic year, marking column, and class information automatically appears in Faculty Access for the Web from Registrar's Office.
You can set up categories, add assignments, and enter assignment grades, but this is not a requirement to use Faculty Access for the Web. You do not have to set up a daily gradebook. If you do not, you can still enter marking column grades, comments, and skill ratings.
If you do plan to set up and use a daily gradebook, we recommend you set up your gradebook in the following order:

Add grading scales. You only need to set up and use grading scales if you need to translate non-numeric grades to a numeric equivalent for grade calculations. For example, if you use letter or check mark grades, you need to set up grading scales. |

Define marking column weights. |

Assign marking column weights to classes. |
Tip: If you use the same grading scales and marking column weights for more than one class, use the Copy grading scales and weights task.

Set up your categories for assignments, such as Test, Homework, and Lab. |

|
If your school uses peer reviewers, set up comment approval. |
|
•
|
Add assignments to your classes. You can add assignments later as needed, but add the assignments you know you need now. |

Set up your assignment dropbox defaults for each class. |

•
|
If needed, add class announcements. |
|
•
|
If needed, add any documents you want students to be able to download from NetClassroom. You can add the documents to the class in general or add it to a specific assignment. |

At the end of the school year, if you want to copy categories, assignments, and non-assignment documents from the current class to next year's class, use the Copy categories/assignments task. |
