Education Area: Home & Overview

The Education area enables Education Management admins to go to capabilities that are shared with other Blackbaud solutions, including

  • Control Panel which includes settings for

    • Authentication - which you can use to enable a single sign on (SSO) experience for your school’s users.

    • Security - which you can use to control which capabilities users can access

  • Connected Apps - which you’ll eventually use to manage integrations from third party partners via SKY API. To get started with the School API, see the online documentation.

  • a menu to switch to other Blackbaud "NXT" solutions that your school already uses. (Some users think the solution menu looks like a "hamburger" icon.)

Tip: If you’re familiar with Raiser’s Edge NXT, this is like “web view.” The top navigation menu for the Education area will be a gray color (and is sometimes call an "omnibar").

As a platform manager who

  • is an Environment admin

  • or is a Organization (site) administrator

select Go to Education area from your Home dashboard in Core.

Tip: If you’re familiar with Raiser’s Edge NXT, this is like going to “web view.” The top navigation menu for the Education area will be a gray color (and is sometimes call an "omnibar").

Users with the platform manager security role can access functionality for Education Management that appears in capability personas (Core, Academics, Enrollment management, Extracurricular, School website ) and role personas (such as Faculty).

  1. From Education, select Home. You’ll do this from the grey navigation menu at the top of the user interface (sometimes known as an “omnibar”).

  2. Then select Go to Education Management. Your Home dashboard from Core appears.

Tip: The top navigation menu for Education Management personas will typically be in your organization's "school colors" instead of a gray color.
