Student Checklist Use Case Examples
With how customizable Student Checklists can be, there are many different ways that schools could potentially utilize them based on various needs. Below, we’ve captured a handful of ways schools could use Student Checklists outside of the more traditional admissions process that the feature is commonly used for. However, these aren’t the only ways to work with this feature, but we hope these examples give you some ideas and inspiration for how you’d like yours to be.

In addition to more traditional checklist steps such as form submissions, visits, and other items that typically need to be completed before a new school year begins, schools can use the checklist for more. Why not include steps which could serve as an opportunity for students or candidates to learn more about the school as well as the day to day things they’ll need to know?
For example, in between submitting forms or filling out other school requirements, consider adding steps to help the student or family learn about typical processes and procedures. Learning oriented steps could include things like helping the student understand school dress codes, how to check their school email, sign ups for school related activities, and other important scheduled activities.

Student Checklists can be a good opportunity for schools to create ones specific to Athletics. Before getting ready for the Fall or Spring seasons, a checklist could be made to help identify important steps for each Student Athlete in order for them to participate in the upcoming season.
For example, steps could include things like receiving necessary forms such as Parent/Guardian permission or Physical evaluation as well as other items like updating the student athlete’s health history.

School and Athletics aren’t the only possibilities, however. Counselors could create their own checklists designed to walk through a step-by-step process for related tasks. During High School, Counselors are typically involved with assisting students on thinking about their next academic steps such as college. As such, a checklist could include steps related to specific forms and documents, attending workshops or specific campus tours, scheduling mock interviews, or applying to various schools.

It’s also possible to create a tracking system related to scholarships and the steps necessary for students to achieve them. Now, each school will likely have different requirements or needs for what steps to include here, but some general options could be for things like a sign-up form, acceptance letter, proof of residency, and other required documentation.
Schools could even branch things a bit further by creating one specific to new students as well as one for renewals or existing students.

For this last one, Student checklists could be a good opportunity to create something focused on Field trips or traveling abroad. Typically, schools require plenty of paperwork to get trips set up, so consider creating steps for things like Parent/Guardian permission forms, risk/liability forms, perhaps a list for required items to have packed, and for international trips, a copy of a student passport.
Again, there’s a lot of possible uses for a Student Checklist beyond the typical admissions related steps. We hope these five use cases have provided a bit of inspiration and helped fuel your creative side when working with this feature.
