The end of each year is typically filled with time off and scheduled events in time for the holidays, so we totally understand if you may have missed a few announcements that happened in December.

One of the bigger features to arrive within the Blackbaud Education management products in December is a complete refresh to Departments and Courses.

You may remember that previously, Departments and Courses were bundled together under the same tab from Requests and schedules in Academics. You had a bunch of drop downs typically hidden, making it not always the easiest to find the information you need quickly.

As of December 10, 2024, we’ve broken them out into their own sections and transformed each of them into a more modern list style thanks to SKYUX. Not only does this make them consistent with other areas of the product, we’re hoping it allows you to get to the details you need much faster and easier.

Under Departments, after selecting +New, you can add relevant data as well as assign faculty. From the list, select View Faculty to pull up a new modal that allows you to assign a Chair, school level, and specific blocks for each individual.

Courses looks identical, with the same list options that you’d expect. However, it does have a new trick up its sleeve, as you can select each course in the list to open the Course Record page. In here, you can view or update things like Course Details, Scheduling, Grading information, and Assessment Grade plan group.
