Create an Advisory

Advisories are the equivalent of courses in Academics. An advisory must be offered before advisory sections can be created.

Create a new advisory:

  1. From the persona menu, select Academics

  2. Head to Scheduling, Course selection and schedules, then switch the dropdown to Advisory

  3. Select Advisories and then Add to create a new advisory.

  4. Enter the following information:

    • Title: Name of the advisory.

    • Length: The number of continuous terms the advisory will run.

    • School Level: Specify the school level of the advisory.

    • Course Code: Use for cross-reference in external databases.

    • Standard Code

    • Publish to Front End - This makes the information visible on the public facing page.

    • Inactive

    • Record Attendance: Check if attendance is required and installed.

    • Independent Study

    • Max Number of Requests

    • Schedule Note

    • Display in Report and Academic Profile Headers: Check if the advisory and advisor name should appear on the grade report. Also check for use with Online Signup if advisors will be recommending courses for their students. Select Head Only to only display the head advisor from the advisory. Select All to display the names of all advisors in the advisory.

    • Display on Directory Profile: Check if the advisory and advisor name should appear on students' directory profiles in Faculty view. Select Head Only to only display the head advisor from the advisory. Select All to display the names of all advisors in the advisory.

    • Total Credits

    • Specify per term

    • GPA Weight

    • Alt. GPA Weight

    • Transcript Category.

    • Grade Plan Group: Select the appropriate grade plan that will be used to grade the advisory if Grading is installed. This is optional.

    • Compulsory

    • Description: Use this field to enter an optional description.

  5. Finally, select Save & Exit once you're finished.
