Ethnicity types (table values)

Platform managers setup ethnicity types to associate with individuals. Create ethnicity types manually or by importing them with a data import.

Note: We recommend schools use Races instead of (or in addition to) Ethnicity. Schools can select multiple Races for individuals. Thus, Races may better describe multiracial individuals. Conversely, you can only select a single Ethnicity for each user. Reports which originally used Ethnicity were converted to use Racesinstead. If your school uses the Ethnicity field, educate your staff about how your use of the older Ethnicity field differs from your use of the newer Races field. For information about Races, including how to copy information from Ethnicity into Races in bulk, see Races.

  1. Select Core.

  2. Select Users.

  3. Select User profile settings.

  4. Select Ethnicity types.

    • To create a new value, select +Add and enter a descriptive name for the type. Then select Add or Save and add another.

    • To rename an ethnicity type, find its row and the ellipsis (...). Next, select Edit and enter a different descriptive name for the type. Then select Save.

    • If an ethnicity type is unused, you can remove it. At the start of the value's row, select the ellipsis (...) and Delete. Then confirm the change.

    • To reorder how ethnicity types appear in drop down menus, select Reorder. Use the double-ended-arrow at the start of each value's row to drag and drop them into the desired order. Alternatively, select Top to move a value to the top of the menu options.

Tip: To add or edit an individual's race or ethnicity, go to Core and use the People finder to access a user's Contact card . Then edit their Citizenship/Resident information.
