FAQs
Blackbaud ID is your central identity to securely sign in to Blackbaud solutions and services. You use your Blackbaud ID to securely access your Blackbaud ID profile, Blackbaud solutions, and Support resources. For more information, see the Blackbaud ID website.
For information about how to invite users and admins to create Blackbaud IDs and access your organization's Blackbaud resources, see Users and Admins Tasks.
Your first organization admins are the person who signed the contract with Blackbaud and the project lead who is listed in the contract. They receive invitation emails from Blackbaud to create their Blackbaud ID, and after they complete the invitation process, they have full admin rights to manage all organizational tasks. For more information, see Admins Tasks.
If the project lead or contract signer won’t act as organization admins, they can either accept the invitation and invite other organization admins who will remove their admin rights, or they can not accept the invitation and make sure that the other organization admin is aware and will be responsible for adding other admins and users.
An organization admin with full admin rights designates the first solution admin for your Blackbaud solution. That solution admin receives an invitation email from Blackbaud to create a Blackbaud ID. After completing the invitation process, the solution admin has admin rights to manage the solution, which includes adding users and other solution admins.
If your organization uses multiple Blackbaud solutions, organization admins identify the first solution admin for each Blackbaud solution. For more information about admins, see Admins Tasks.
Organization admins, solution admins, and regular users with specific admin rights can perform organizational admin tasks and solution-specific admin tasks. For information, see Admins Tasks.
On the Users page, admins can provide a name and email address to send invitations to new users and specify any admin rights. For more information, see Users and Admins Tasks.
The content in invitation emails varies based on the recipient. For example, solution admins receive different invitations than regular users. But the process is the same when they create Blackbaud IDs.
-
A new user or admin receives an auto-generated email invitations to create a Blackbaud ID and selects Accept invitation.
If the recipient can't select Accept invitation, they can select the URL or copy and paste it into a browser to accept the invitation.
-
On the Blackbaud sign-in page that appears, the user or admin selects the link to create a Blackbaud ID.
To use a different email address for the Blackbuad ID than the one that received the invitation, the user or admin can change the email address in the Blackbaud ID field.
-
After creating a Blackbaud ID, the user or admin receives a confirmation email and must follow the instructions to verify the email address.
To successfully sign in to a Blackbaud solution, the user or admin must confirm the email address within the time limit. If not, the user or admin is prompted to resend the email on the next attempt to sign in.
-
After confirming the email address, the user or admin can sign in to Blackbaud solutions.
If invitations or confirmation emails expire, users and admins are prompted to resend the next time they try to sign in.
When a Blackbaud ID invitation or confirmation email expires, the user or admin is prompted to resend the email the next time they try to sign in.
To resend an invitation if email delivery fails or a recipient can't find the original invitation, select Resend invite from the user's menu on the Users page.
If you use multiple Blackbaud solutions and you're giving a user access for the first time, they will have access to the other solutions within several minutes. They don't receive and accept additional invitations.
No. Don't let multiple users share a Blackbaud ID. For security and user management, each user must have a unique Blackbaud ID.
A user can be redirected for the following reasons:
-
The user isn't linked to an account in Education Management. To verify a user is linked, see Manage Education Management security.
-
The user accepted the invitation when signed in with a different Blackbaud ID.
-
The invitation was previously accepted.
-
The invitation was canceled by an admin.
-
The URL was copied incorrectly from the invitation.
-
The user attempted to accept the invitation from an email forward.
After users accept invitations and create Blackbaud IDs, they can sign in to access Blackbaud resources. If they encounter issues with their Blackbaud IDs, see the Blackbaud ID FAQs.
