Budget Creator Excel Add-In

You can use the Budget Creator for Financial Edge NXT add-in, an application built by Blackbaud and available in Microsoft's Office Store, to add and edit budget data in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, and then submit the data to create a new budget or update an existing one. This enables bulk data entry and saves time, especially when entering similar data.

To access the add-in from Financial Edge NXT, from the Solutions menu in the upper left corner, select Marketplace. An administrator must approve and activate the add-in, and confirm you have appropriate rights to access data in Financial Edge NXT. You can then download the add-in from Microsoft's Office Store.

To manage apps for your organization, go to the Manage page in the Blackbaud Marketplace. After the add-in is enabled and activated, all users can download and use it from Microsoft's Office Store.

  1. Copy the following Budget Creator add-in application ID:

  2. Under Manage in the Blackbaud Marketplace, select Connect app.

  3. Enter the ID and select Connect.

    To notify your organization of the application, share its URL with users as necessary. You can access the URL from the add-in's overview page or when connecting the application.

  1. In the Excel Add-ins menu ribbon, select Store. The Office Add-ins screen appears.

  2. Search for "Budget Creator for Financial Edge NXT" and select Add.

  3. In the Home menu ribbon, select Manage Budget. The add-in Welcome panel appears for you to enter your Blackbaud ID credentials and sign in. A confirmation page appears.

  4. Review the name of your Financial Edge NXT environment, and select Authorize.

    Tip: It's possible for multiple Financial Edge NXT environments to appear on this page. Your ability to view and select them depends on your permissions. For information, contact your organization's administrator.

  5. After the authorization is successful, the add-in spreadsheet appears with the budget panel on the right. For information about the panel, see Create and Edit a Budget with the Budget Creator Excel Add-In.

    Tip: If the add-in spreadsheet doesn't appear, contact your administrator to make sure you have rights to view budget scenarios and fiscal years in the database view.
