Tax status lookup
You can use data from GuideStar, Internal Revenue Service, or Canada Revenue Service to verify an organization's tax exemption status.

The tax status lookup enables you to search data sources for organizations that aren't records in Grantmaking.

From Control panel, select Settings.

Under Organization, select Tax status lookup from the menu

Enter your search criteria and choose which tax status data source to use.

Select Submit.

From the search results:

Select View details to view more tax status details about the organization.

To add an organization to your database, select its checkbox and then select Add.
Note: Since these records are imported directly from government sources, fields cannot be modified until after the Organization has been added in Grantmaking.

Use Tax status verify to quickly verify the tax status of organizations saved as records in Grantmaking.

From Workspace, search for one or more organizations.

From the search results, select the organizations to verify and then select Due diligence, Tax status verify.
You receive search results directly from the default data source, including the organization's name, tax ID, tax status and whether it qualifies as a public charity.

Select Update to add this information to the organization's record.

You can enable Guidestar Charity Check as the default data source to use for tax status verification.

From Control panel, select Settings.

Under General, select Edit GuideStar Charity Check from the menu.

Select Use GuideStar Charity Check to check organization tax status.
