Create a campaign
Campaigns in Blackbaud Guided Fundraising are where you organize your outreach strategies for your different fundraising initiatives. You can have multiple campaigns running at once, specific to different fundraising initiatives. Each campaign can have different prospects, a different Play sequence, and different assigned agents, allowing you to create a unique outreach experience for your constituents.
Note: Blackbaud generally recommends one large campaign for a whole year or semester to include most prospects for maximum effectiveness of the predictive models.

Go to the "Campaigns" section on the left side of the screen. Select the "Create Campaign" button in the "Manage Campaigns" section. The creation process provides prompts for each step in creating the campaign. You will be asked a series of questions outlined in "Preparing for Campaign Set Up."
After you are prompted to review your choices, you will be asked to submit the campaign set up. You will know if the campaign set up was successful when a green pop up message appears in the upper right corner of your screen.
The campaign will now appear in the "Manage Campaigns" section on the "Campaign" tab. Find the campaign you set up and select the 'open' button before moving on to selecting prospects for the campaign. You can change your original settings here by entering the "Settings" tab and selecting on the "Edit Campaign" section located just below.

The next thing you’ll need to do to get your campaign ready is to add prospects to the campaign. Adding prospects to your campaign defines who is available for your agents to contact in that particular campaign. Blackbaud Guided Fundraising's prioritization algorithm will work behind the scenes to prioritize the prospects and queue up the best prospects to contact on a particular day.

Blackbaud Guided Fundraising's predictive algorithm works behind the scenes to always present your agents with the best prospect to be contacted on a given day. The Play you set up in Blackbaud Guided Fundraising allows you to create a personalized outreach experience for your donors, coordinating your outreach through phone, text message, email, and direct mail.

When your agents are presented with prospects to contact, they’ll be given a set of talking points that are relevant for each individual prospect. Different talking points will be brought in based on criteria that matches specifically to the prospect. You write the talking points and define the criteria, then Blackbaud Guided Fundraising automatically pulls in relevant talking points for the prospect.

You can create different email messages that send to your donors at different steps in the Play sequence. For example, you can create a follow-up email that automatically sends out 10 minutes after a student tries to call a donor for the first time, if they are not able to get a hold of them. You can insert variables in the emails to personalize the message for each donor. For example, you can include the name of the agent who tried to call them, as well as information from their constituent record, such as their preferred class year.

You can customize the result options your agents can select from to tell you what happened on their calls. After an agent places a call, they'll be required to report a result. To customize the options they can select from, navigate to Settings > Result Options within the Campaign view.

You can use your contact restrictions to withhold prospects from certain types of contact in your campaign. You will need to map your institution's contact restrictions to tell Blackbaud Guided Fundraising how to handle them. They can be mapped to “Do Not Call,” "Do Not Text," “Do Not Email,” and “Do Not Mail.”
To customize these options, navigate to Settings > Contact Restrictions within a specific campaign.

When you are ready for agents to see the campaign and begin calling, you need to launch your campaign to change the status to "Active." You can launch your campaign by navigating to the Campaign, Getting Started section. Once all of the items in the To Do list have been completed, the Launch button will become enabled and you will be able to launch your campaign. If there are still items in the To Do list, complete those items first to enable the Launch button.
When you are done with this campaign, and don't want agents to see the campaign anymore, you can change the status to "Archived." If you need to put the campaign on hold for a period of time, you can change the status to "Paused" and then resume it when you are ready to start again. Agents will not be able to see Archived or Paused campaigns. After your campaign has been launched, you can change the status by selecting the gear icon on the campaign from the main Campaigns page.
Warning: You cannot change your Play sequence once your campaign is active. You can still change which messages send out at different steps in the Play, but you cannot change the order of actions. Once a campaign is active, if you need to change the Play sequence, you will need to create a new campaign.

Each campaign can be in one of four campaign statuses (found in Settings > Details). Each new campaign will default to “draft” status.
-
Draft: When campaign is “draft” form, only staff managers with access to Campaign Settings can view.
-
Active: When campaign is “active,” the play sequence is activated and assigned agents have access to this campaign.
-
Paused: When campaign is “paused,” all activity in this campaign is paused until status changes. Agents cannot see a paused campaign, but you can resume the campaign by changing the status to active.
-
Archived: When campaign is “archived,” agents will not be able to see the campaign.
The only way to activate a draft campaign is by navigating to the Getting Started section of the campaign and selecting the Launch button. You will need to complete all of the items in the To Do list on the Getting Started section before the Launch button becomes enabled.
To change the status of a non-draft campaign, find the campaign from the main Campaigns page and select the gear icon. Then, select the desired option from the gear menu to change the status.
