Advocacy Action Alerts - the User Experience

Once you provide a link to an Action Alert, your constituents can respond by providing their contact information, modifying the message (if you enable that option), and sending their message to the specified Targets, or recipients. Targets may consist of either of the following:

  • Legislators and other individuals to whom your constituents are sending messages, or...

  • Federal regulations, proposals, or other items for which your constituents are submitting public comments (Public Comment Alerts)

Some federal legislators also require that constituents solve a "logic puzzle" to show that the message is from a person, rather than a computer.

In a few cases, constituents must actually go to a legislator's webform and complete the form themselves. They are provided with a link to the webform and instructions for copying their message and pasting it into the form.
