Preview Alert

Before publishing an Action Alert to make it active, you can preview it from the optional Preview Alert process page. To perform a "test drive" and generate preview emails or faxes, complete the alert process in the Preview window just as an advocate would.

Note: Test messages or Tell-a-Friend messages submitted from within the Preview window do not affect the count of messages sent (or the number of advocates acting on the alert), the profile of any constituent used for the preview, or data in Advocacy reports.

Preview an action alert

  1. Enter a test email address to receive a Preview Email. This allows you to see how the emailed message will appear to legislators and other target recipients.

  2. Enter a test fax number to receive a Preview fax. Use numbers and no spaces, as in 5121234567. This allows you to see how the faxed message will appear to target recipients.

  3. Click Preview Alert to preview and "test drive" the alert as an advocate. To receive a preview email or fax, you must complete the alert and send the message from within the Preview window. If your alert includes a Tell-a-Friend option and you provide a forwarding email address during your preview, a Tell-a-Friend email will be sent to that address.

  4. Close the Preview window when you are done.

  5. To make changes, click the name of the process page you want to edit.

  6. When you are satisfied with the alert, click Next to go to the next process page: Publish Alert.
