To preview a Letter to the Editor alert

  1. Open an alert for editing and go to the Preview Alert process page.

  2. To Preview as Existing Constituent, enter the User Name of a valid Contact in the Constituent360 database for your site. When you click the green Preview Alert button to preview or "test drive" the alert, you will automatically be identified as that constituent. Any preview emails or faxes will also be identified as being sent by that constituent.

  3. To preview the alert as an anonymous site visitor, leave this field blank and set the Security Category for the alert to General. Otherwise, you may get an error, because the preview honors a restricted Security Category.

  4. To receive a Preview Email when you click Preview Alert and complete the alert within the Preview window, enter your test email address. This allows you to see how the emailed letter will appear to a media target recipient.

  5. To receive a Preview Fax when you click Preview Alert and complete the alert within the Preview window, enter your test fax number. Use numbers and no spaces, as in 5121234567. This allows you to see how the faxed letter will appear to a media target recipient.

  6. Click the Preview Alert button to preview and "test drive" the alert as an advocate. To receive a preview email or fax, you must complete the alert and send the letter from within the Preview window. If your alert includes a Tell-a-Friend option and you provide a forwarding email address during your preview, a Tell-a-Friend email will be sent to that address.

  7. If you have left the Preview as Existing Constituent field blank (see step #2 above), you are identified as an anonymous site visitor and may get an error if the alert is set to a restricted Security Category.

  8. Close the Preview window when you are done.

  9. To make changes, click the name of the process page you want to edit.

  10. When you are satisfied with the alert, click Next to go to the next process page: Publish Alert.
