Talking Points Sample Text

As you create your Letter to the Editor alert, you provide Talking Points on the Alert Message process page to assist advocates in writing their personal letters to send to media targets. Talking points are often critical in maximizing a letter's impact, increasing the chance that it will be published or otherwise highlighted.

The Talking Points section displays on the Take Action page next to the Message area where advocates compose the letter. A typical Talking Points section might look like this:

Letters to media organizations are an effective way to voice your opinion to policy-makers and to educate your community about issues that are important to you. The Letters section is one of the most frequently read sections of newspapers and magazines.

We suggest including up to three of the following talking points in your letter:

  • <First talking point>

  • <Second talking point>

  • <Third talking point>

  • <Fourth talking point>

Also keep in mind these writing tips:
