Content Type Display Templates
In the Display Templates area of a content type administration page, a Website Administrator creates and edits display templates to be used specifically with that content type. Display templates enforce a consistent presentation of the content inside a wrapper, for single items and lists of items.
For the Authoring Wizard Preview step to work, a content type must have at least one single display template.
Field/Action | Description |
---|---|
New template | Click to create a new display template for this content type. |
Properties |
Click to edit the core properties of the display template: label, description, and whether it will be the default single or list display template for this content type. A content type can have multiple single display templates, and in general you should always make one the default. For example, the Authoring Wizard Preview step will not work otherwise. Setting a default list display template is only required for the Post/Comment base type. To change a default template, click the Properties link for the template you want as the new default. |
Visual | Click to use the HTML Editor toolbar to edit the layout of the display template. This determines how fields will appear on Web pages for individual items (single display template) or lists of items (list display template) of this type. |
Source | Click to edit the HTML source for this display template. |
Delete | Click to delete this display template. If you are deleting a list display template, verify that it is not in use. |
