You can import and export content as either a CSV or a ZIP file - the format you select depends on what you are trying to achieve. Content can be imported and exported from a content type's Properties page or from Reports & Tools.
Import and export CSV files if you want to:

Track a set of data in offline spreadsheets or databases.

Import a batch of related items so that you do not have to assign them one by one.

Modify data offline and then import it back into the product.

Create a list of all the items for a given content type. You can then quickly make a large number of edits to the CSV file and import it back into your site.
Import and export ZIP files if you want to:

Import a batch of images or web pages.

Create a backup of your site.
Note: CMS Administrators can import and export CSV files, but only Website Administrators can import and export ZIP files.
