To create a new folder

  1. In Website Explorer, do one of the following to open the New Folder dialog:

    • In the left pane, highlight the folder in which to create a new sub-folder. Click Add Subfolder.

      --OR--

    • Right-click a folder in the right pane. From the pop up context menu, select Add Subfolder.

  2. In the New Folder dialog, enter a Folder title. This is the exact text that appears to website visitors in breadcrumb and section navigation on Web pages located in the folder.

  3. Press Tab to auto-populate the folder's URL name field with a URL-friendly name, or manually enter a name that contains no spaces or special characters. The URL name is part of the full URL for the folder as well as for each item in the folder. (URLs are case-sensitive in this application. A link must exactly match the target URL.)

  4. Do one of the following to set this folder's Default Wrapper:

    • Leave the Use Default menu option selected to use the parent folder's default wrapper -- which may or may not be the site-wide default.

    • Select a different wrapper from the menu.

  5. To create a home page for the folder, select Create an index page for the new folder. Make sure you then publish the index page.

Note: Any folder included as a link in a navigation menu must have a published index page (also known as a home page), or the link will not work. This is because the folder's index page acts as the link target.

  1. Click OK. The new folder displays with its index page, if any.

  2. Continue configuring the folder configuration tasks as listed at the top of this page: Folder Permissions, Navigation, and Folder Properties (such as the "allowed" Content Types for which items can be created within the folder).
