To define a custom access-denied page for a folder

  1. Create a new web page or edit an existing page with the content you want (for instance, specifying that the content the visitor is trying to access is restricted to a certain constituent group). Make sure the page is in a folder with unrestricted access.

  2. Publish the page.

  3. In Website Explorer, navigate to the folder for which you are selecting the custom access-denied page.

  4. Select the folder and click Folder Properties on the Website Explorer toolbar. The Folder Properties pane appears.

  5. Click Edit in the Properties area. The Edit Folder Properties dialog appears.

  6. Click Browse under Choose a custom access-denied page for a folder. The Website Explorer dialog opens to the Browse tab.

  7. Browse to the new page you created. Make sure you are selecting a live published page.

  8. Click Select, then Save. In the Properties area, the Access-Denied Page field now displays the URL of the selected custom access-denied page. (If you select an unpublished draft, the field value is null.)
