Configure the List Component
When using the List component, you select a content type to refine the list contents. Make sure the content type you plan to use has at least one list template defined, and at least one published item so that the component can display as a list on a Web page.
To insert and configure a List component, you do the following:

Apply a content filter to restrict list items according to publication date, folder, content category, and/or related items of the same or other content types.

Specify the sort order for the list and define the number of results.

Choose a list template to format the items in the list.

(Optional) Use advanced filtering to fine-tune the list.
After you insert the component on a Web page (or in a single display template), the list will display as defined by:

The selected content filter (or advanced filtering options)
-
The selected list template
-
The component's general configuration
Only Live and Approved (awaiting scheduled publication) items display when you view the list in the Body Content or Preview steps of the Authoring Wizard. Expired, Submitted, and Draft items do not appear.
The List component can display up to a maximum of 5000 items.
