To restrict read access to specified Constituent groups

To restrict a folder's read-access to specific Constituent groups in Constituent360 (such as a group called High-Level Donors), you revoke the Reader role assigned by default to the Visitor meta-user, then assign the Reader role to the specific Constituent group(s).

  1. Select a folder in Website Explorer and click the Folder Permissions button (yellow key) in the Website Explorer toolbar. The Folder Permissions pane displays.

  2. Start by revoking the Visitor role to None (if it is set to Reader):

  3. Click Change in the Action column for Visitor.

  4. Select None on the Change Permissions page.

  5. (Optional but recommended) To apply the change recursively to all sub-folders in this folder, select Also change permissions to sub-folders and components. Otherwise, anonymous site visitors may still be able to view content in sub-folders.

  6. Click Change. The folder's contents can no longer be viewed by any and all site visitors. You are ready to specify the Constituent groups who will have read-access.

  7. Back on the Folder Permissions pane, select Grant permission to a <constituent security group>.

  8. In the Search text box, type part or all of a group name, if you know it. Use an asterisk * to display all available groups.

  9. Click Search. The Add Permissions to Folder page displays all constituent groups matching your search.

If the group you want does not appear in search results, modify your criteria and try again, or return to the Folder Permissions pane and click the refresh user and group information link. If this still doesn't work, contact your Website Administrator or Support.

  1. Click Change for the appropriate group. The Change Permissions window displays.

  2. Click Reader.

  3. (Optional) To apply the new role and permissions recursively to all sub-folders in this folder, select Also change permissions to sub-folders and components.

  4. Click Change. The group is added to the list of constituent groups with read-access to this folder's contents.

  5. Continue to assign the Reader role to additional constituent groups as needed.
