Advanced and Public Searches

There are two types of searches:

  • Advanced (administrative): Searches performed by client administrators

  • Public: Searches performed by website visitors

Search results are sorted and displayed according to a search score based on:

  • Where the term is matched. For example, a keyword found in an item's Title ranks the item higher in search results than a keyword found in an item's Description.

  • How often the term is matched.

  • (Advanced searches only, if restricted by content category) How rare the match is. This criterion is used for most Advanced administrative searches that are restricted by content category. (If an administrator restricts the search to a content type that has category-backed fields, those fields display as additional Advanced Search fields from which a category can be selected.)
