Using the Author Toolbar

The Author Toolbar is a quick and convenient way to edit a site directly from a live Web page. The Toolbar appears at the top corner of a live page if you are an Author or Manager in the parent folder of that page, and if you have logged in within the last 30 days.

If you are logged out, you are prompted to log in again. If your last log in was over 30 days ago and you do not see the Toolbar, log in again. If your folder-level role is revoked, the Author Toolbar still displays on live pages residing in that folder for 30 days after your last loin. However, you can no longer access the Author Tools when you log in again.

Click the end of the Author Toolbar to collapse or expand it. From the Toolbar, you can:

  • Edit a live Web page -- for instance, if you are viewing a page and notice an error.
  • Navigate to your Workspace or to a folder in Website Explorer.
  • Create new items of the same content type as the page.
  • Manage submitted data for pages that contain a Web form.
