Link to Miscellaneous Content

In the WYSIWYG content editor, you can link to external websites, other content you have created, and various media. Use links to make it easier for users to access details about events, engage in fundraising, or take helpful surveys. The available link choices depend on which applications you use.

Insert links to content:

  1. Create and publish the content.

  2. In the WYSIWYG content editor window, create the text for the link to your content.

  3. Highlight the text for the link.

  4. Note: If no text is highlighted, the full HTTP address will display on your page.

  5. Click , Insert Link.

  6. Click Browse Links.

  7. Choose the Link Type. The Name you applied to the content and a Description of the content appear to the right.

    • Action Alert- Link to an Action Alert

    • Clubs- Link to a Club

    • Directory- Link to several aspects of the directory including the ability to search, update a profile, and change a password

    • Document Library- Link to your uploaded PDFs, sound files, Excel files, and other document types

    • Donation Classic Form- Link to a Donation Classic page, or a list of your donation forms

    • Donation Form (Online Giving)- Link directly to a donation form created in the Online Giving application. The link will default to the splash page, if you have one published. Otherwise, the link will lead to the first page of the donation form

    • Donation Level- Link directly to a donation level for a donation form that was created in the Online Giving application (to link to the first page of the donation form) or the Donations Classic application (to link to the second page of the form, Payment Info). For both options, the indicated level will already be checked, and the donor will see no other levels

    • Note: If the level is associated with a Donations Classic form, you can also choose to link to a memorial/tribute page before the Payment Info page.

    • eCard Campaign- Link to your eCard Campaign page

    • eCommerce Product- Link to a Product Details page of a selected product, and the shopper can navigate into the online store from there

    • eCommerce Store- Link to your online store (a store homepage, or the first page of a product catalog)

    • Email Message- Link to individual messages of a campaign if you check Enable web viewing of messages when creating an Email Campaign. For example, you might provide a link from your homepage to your most recent email newsletter

    • Events- Link to your calendar (weekly or monthly view, and list or traditional view) or directly to an event page

    • Gift Service Center- Link to the Gift Service Center where donors can access information about their sustaining and/or installment gifts, or, depending on the options you allow, can also change billing information, modify the gift amount, skip payments, or discontinue payments altogether

    • Note: You may want to link to an account information page where donors also have access to their profile information, or to a general donation information page, an onscreen donation thank you page, or a thank you email. The donor will always be prompted to log in before any sensitive information is displayed.

    • National Companies- Link to the Company Page of a National Companies sponsor, or directly to the Company sponsored Events, Teams, or Participants

    • Page Navigator- Link to various pages on your site

    • PageBuilder- Link to any page in the Page Library that is active, including a variety of default pages

    • Personal Event Activity- Link to the splash page for a Personal Event activity, where constituents can sign up to host a Personal Event or search for an event to attend

    • Personal Fundraising Campaign- Link to a Personal Fundraising Campaign page

    • Photo Album- Link to a published album or a list of albums

    • Premium Selector- Link to the Premium Selector screen, which displays a list of premiums associated with certain giving levels for a Donations Classic form. The user can select a premium and make the donation directly from the Premium Selector screen

    • Rewards- Link to a list of the available rewards, which constituents can compare to their accumulated points

    • Scorecard- Link to:

      • The House Scorecard Page or the Senate Scorecard Page (displays the voting record of all members of the House or Senate on all votes for which you have a published position)

        A constituent's Combined Legislator Scorecard Page (displays the voting record for the constituent's representative and two senators on all votes for which you have a published position)

        Note: Constituents must supply zip code and/or address information before accessing this page to determine their legislators. If no district is found, then the Vote List Page will display.

    • StoryBuilder Articles- Link to a news article you have written on another page or email using the StoryBuilder application

    • Survey- Link to a survey (or a list of your surveys) that you have created and published on another page

    • TeamRaiser- Link to a TeamRaiser event or to pages associated with the event, such as a Greeting Page, a Team List, or a page that allows constituents to set up their own teams

    • User Registration- Link to a page that allows your users to register with your site or to update their existing information. Through this link menu, you can also allow users to change their password, login, and logout

    • User Story- Link to a designated interest category where the user can input a personal story relating to this interest. The submitted story appears in the Article List of the StoryBuilder application where you will have the option of editing and publishing it on your site

    • Vote- Link to the:

      • Vote List page, which displays a list of your published positions on votes. Your constituents will always have access to your vote positions and any associated Action Alerts

        Vote Information Page, which provides information about a vote on which you have a published position. Constituents can supply their 9-digit zip code or address to go to the Legislator Vote Action Page

        Legislator Vote Action Page, which displays how legislators voted on a vote on which you have a published position. Constituents can take action on any alerts you have created for this position

        Note: Constituents must supply zip code and/or address information before accessing this page to determine their legislators. If no district is found, then the Vote Information Page will display.

    • External Web Address- Link to another site and choose to frame the link, open it in a new window, provide alternative text, and associate the link with an interest group

  8. Click the Name of the target item you want to link to. A Set Link Options page displays which contains User Processing and Advanced Options sections.

  9. If you are creating a link for Action Alerts, Donation Form (Online Giving), National Companies, or Personal Fundraising Campaign, there might be more than one available page to link to. Select the appropriate page to link to from the Page dropdown.

  10. If you are creating a link to an Email Message, select the appropriate message from the Select a message variant dropdown.

  11. Under User Processing, select whether to add or remove an Interest from a user’s Interest profile when they click the link.

  12. Under Advanced Options, add a Promotion Code if applicable.

  13. Optionally, add additional parameters to the URL in Enter Additional Arguments. Use the format, "arg1=value1&arg2=value2...".

  14. Click Select.

  15. On the Insert Link window, you can provide a link Title for accessibility purposes.

  16. Click Insert. You will return to the WYSIWYG content editor, where the selected text indicates an active link.
