Customize the Tell-A-Friend Message and Link Appearance

By default, your story pages will contain a Tell-A-Friend link that online story readers can click to send an email message to their friends about the story and provide a link to it. When the readers click the Tell-A-Friend link, a message form displays with text entry fields for entering their name, their email address, and the email addresses to which the messages will be sent. The form also shows the message Subject, the Body text entry area, and the link to the story that the system will insert automatically below the body text.

You can customize the subject line and add body content to the Tell-A-Friend email message to make it apply to the page content or offer a compelling reason to click the link to it. You can then specify whether senders can change the customized subject and body information or add to it.

The Tell-A-Friend link is typically embedded as an image in your page wrapper. You can change its appearance to a text link and then enter the text (such as Tell Someone About This Article).

If you do not customize the Tell-A-Friend message and link appearance, the default Tell-A-Friend image and text are used. After customizing and saving a Tell-A-Friend message form, you can revert to the default by clicking the Use Default Content button on the Tell-A-Friend configuration page.
