Run a Standard Constituent Import operation

  1. From the navigation bar, click Data Management and then select Import/Export. This action opens the My Data Sync Operations list page.

  2. Click the All Data Sync Operations tab to display the list of standard operations.

  3. Click the Run action beside the Standard Constituent Import operation in the list of all Operation types.

  4. Provide the following Operation Information:
    • Review the details of the Operation you have chosen.

    • Provide an operation Label to identify this operation in the list of Operation Results. If you do not enter a label, the operation type will serve as the default label.

    • Provide a brief Description of the operation. This description will be displayed with the label in the list of Operation Results.

  5. Click Next.

Note: If you are using the duplicate resolution feature, the Registration Conflicts page will appear. Use this page to resolve potential duplicates as discussed in Step 5. If you do not have this page, go on to Step 7.

  6. Resolve any new registration conflicts that are shown in the list that displays. Names that appear in this list consist of new registrations that appear to match existing records. You can resolve any potential matches by merging the records, by marking them as a match, or by marking them as not a match. Refer to Resolving New Registrations for more details on this process.

  7. It is extremely important that you resolve potential duplicate records before continuing with your upload. The upload will be trying to match the new information with existing records; therefore, it is essential that you have the existing records as accurate as possible.

  8. Click Next.

  9. Review the details of your upload.

  10. Review the list of those who will be notified by email when this operation has completed. You can also enter email addresses for additional people who should be notified. If adding multiple email addresses, place them on different lines or separate them with commas or semi-colons.

  11. Locate and upload the CSV file for the operation as follows:
    1. Click Browse.

    2. Navigate to the CSV file that contains the data.

    3. Click Open. The full path and file name will appear in the field beside the Browse button.

    4. Click Submit Operation. You will be taken to the Operation Results page. The operation will run as soon as the task service picks it up.

    5. Click Refresh List at the top of the Operation Results page to update the Status of the operation. You may need to click the button more than once before the Status changes to running and then to succeeded or failed.

Note: If this is a large upload, the operation may take some time. If so, you can return to the Operation Results page later.

  12. Once the operation is complete, click the following Actions on the Operation Results page to view more information about the upload:
    • View Report: Displays summary information about the number of new Constituent360 records that were created, updated, and rejected. Includes a link to the errors.csv file if errors are present.

    • Errors: Downloads a report of errors that occurred with this operation. [Errors can occur when fields contain invalid data (such as, text in a monetary field) or when uploaded records appear to match multiple existing records (for example, when an uploaded record matches one existing record on email and another on ID.)

Note: For help determining why the system uploaded or rejected information from your upload file, refer to Understanding the Standard Constituent Import Process.
