Checkout Fraud Management

Fraud management has moved out of Luminate Online and into Blackbaud Merchant Services. With fraud management now more deeply integrated into the new checkout system, you don't need to manually add safeguards like reCAPTCHA to your form. We have it all covered for you and have your back!

Note: Luminate Online fraud management configurations, such as Fraud Management reports, reCAPTCHA data element, and velocity settings, are available until March 31st, 2025. Starting April 1st, 2025, these will no longer be applicable for use, because they will not integrate with the new checkout feature. You do not need to take action to remove any configurations. These options will be removed in the future.

Blackbaud is committed to protecting customers and their constituents against payment fraud while boosting transaction acceptance rates to maximize the impact of fundraising efforts. As such, Blackbaud continually evaluates and applies best practices with premium level fraud management solutions included at no additional cost with Blackbaud Merchant Services.

The current settings include the following:

• reCAPTCHA v3 for all online forms using checkout. V3 is known as invisible reCAPTCHA and provides a seamless user experience.

• 3-D Secure 2.0 is enabled for card owners who have 3DS 2.0 activated cards and activated authentication approvals on their card transactions.

• Transaction risk score review.

Any changes made are designed to prevent fraud while optimizing transaction approval rates and maximizing the impact of fundraising efforts.
