Donation Classic
Warning: To comply with the new PCI 4.0 (Payment Card Industry) standards, all credit and debit card transactions must be configured to use the new checkout experience. This requires updating your donation forms and payment processing to meet the new requirements before March 2025.
Note: March 13 language update: The full requirements of PCI 4.0 will begin to be enforced on March 31, 2025. Your organization has its own PCI audit date to comply with those requirements. To ensure your organization is ready, update all of your payment forms before your PCI audit date. To ensure that Blackbaud is compliant before Blackbaud's audit, we will run an Auto-Compliance Migration Script from May 1-16th to enforce updated payment processing. The script will update all unchanged forms with the checkout modal, potentially causing layout and processing changes. This script cannot update API forms, which you must manually update. See Auto Migration FAQs.
Note: Donation Classic is an older version of donation forms. See About Online Giving for current donation forms.
Donation Classic enables you to set up several types of online donation forms that site visitors can use to make contributions to your fundraising campaigns. You can select from several different kinds of forms for your general fundraising and membership drives, and you can add options that enable donors to make contributions in honor of other people as well as make recurring (sustaining) gifts. You can also add donations that you receive offline (such as cash and checks) to your totals for a campaign.
On your forms, you can configure multiple giving levels and add premiums (such as a t-shirt or a calendar) to provide an extra incentive to the donor. A donor is always offered the option of not accepting the premium, thus permitting 100% of their donation to be applied to your fundraiser.
The system automatically creates a group for each giving level that you can use to easily track and follow-up with donors. The system will also automatically send email message autoresponders to your donors to thank them for their donations. You can customize the messages in these autoresponders through the Autoresponder Center available under Site Options in the administrator interface.
Adding a donation thermometer to your fundraising pages helps donors keep track of your fundraising progress.
