Understanding the eCard - Send Checkbox Data Element
The eCard - Send Checkbox element is one of several eCard elements that, when used together, allow your donors to send eCards to their friends -- and pass along news of the giving opportunity in which they are participating. This specific eCard element allows your donors to choose whether or not they would like to send an eCard.
The eCard - Send Checkbox element must appear first in the group of eCard data elements. If the donor chooses to send an eCard by checking this box, all other eCard fields are required except the Send Date and the Send Copy to Sender fields. (eCards are sent immediately if no send date is entered.)
The eCard Send - Checkbox element can be added to any donation form -- along with the other eCard data elements -- in order to provide your donors with the ability to send eCards. The eCard elements are already present on one template (Honor Gift Donation Form with eCards). However, you can easily add these elements to a form based on a different template by using the Form Designer.
Important: Because the eCard - Send Checkbox element would have no meaning if added alone, this section discusses adding all of the eCard Fields as a group. Because the order in which the eCard elements appear is important, it is best to add these fields as a group and then leave the order intact.
When editing the eCard - Send Checkbox element in the Form Designer or from a Preview, you can configure the field label (if you choose to include one) and the text for the checkbox. You can also enter donor hint text for this field and decide whether you would like this box checked by default when first presented to the donor.
