Double Opt-In or Two-Step Verification
Use two-step verification or double opt-in to verify email addresses of new constituents so you can avoid invalid email addresses and target engaged constituents. Targeting responsive recipients can help improve email delivery and open rate.

Two-step verification is similar to double opt-in. It means there are two actions taken by the user to gain access or opt-in.

Opt-in is an express permission given by a user to accept messages.
Double opt-in adds a second confirmation step to the opt-in process. After a successful opt-in or double opt-in process, a user receives material or messages until deciding to opt-out.
How do these work in Luminate Online?
In Luminate Online, the double opt-in feature applies only to new users who want to register on your site using a specific site registration. Use the recommended two-step verification process for TeamRaiser, Survey, Donation Form, Calendar Event, or Advocacy.
Recommended Implementation
Implement two-step verification using the new site registration autoresponder. Follow the instructions in Knowledgebase article 188725.
Implementation for new site registrants only

Contact Blackbaud Support to enable the USER_DOUBLE_OPT_IN_ENABLED Site Option.
Note: When set to TRUE, a contact cannot immediately log in after site registration. They must first acknowledge the registration by clicking an "Activate my account" link in a verification email that is sent to them when they register.

Luminate Online already provides default text to guide users through the two-step verification process. However, you can change the email content in Site Options.
Go to Setup > Site Options.
Search for the double opt-in site options, USER_DOUBLE_OPT_IN_EMAIL_PARA_1 (and 2 and 3) as shown in the image:
In the field for each paragraph, update the text with your changes. As a best practice, do not change the session tags.
Click Save.
