Validating the Message

Your message will be evaluated for its potential to be marked as spam using SpamAssasin. Spam is also called "junk mail” and it is considered unwanted email that can be blocked from a recipient's inbox by an email provider.

Running the Spam Check on your message will display a score based on specific SpamAssasin rules. Suggested changes will display for lowering the score based on a rule. Not all of the rules will have explanations, but usually there's enough information to help you lower the score.

The score determines how likely it is that popular email service providers, such as Microsoft Exchange, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, and AOL, will mark the message as spam. Scores higher than 5.0 are considered spam by SpamAssassin, however it’s preferable to have a score below 1.0. Don’t spend a lot of effort trying to get the score to 0, instead make updates based on the suggestions and try to get your score below 1.0, if possible. Remember, these are indicators that your message might be considered spam.
