To create a contributed content solicitation

  1. On the Contributed Content page, click the Solicitations tab.

  2. On the Solicitations page, click Create Solicitation.

  3. On the Name and Format page:

    1. Assign a name to this solicitation: Type a unique name that identifies the content solicitation type and purpose. The solicitation name is case sensitive.

      Including a date in the name is an easy way to organize solicitations.

    2. Specify the content you want: .

      You cannot change this selection after you save the solicitation.

      • News Story: Enable the content contributor to enter a headline, author byline, date, up to 500 characters in a text block, and an optional picture plus a link to more of the story.

      • Event Information: Enable the content contributor to enter the name of an event, its date, its location, a description of up to 500 characters, plus the link to more information.

      • Teaser Intro: Enable the content contributor to enter headline text to use as a link to a full story or piece of information, the link information for the headline link, and a short text block of up to 280 characters that describes the information where the headline links.

  4. Click Next.

  5. On the Due Date and Approval page:

    1. Select the cut-off date for creating new contributions for this solicitation: Choose one of the following:

      • I will accept contributions indefinitely.

      • I only want contributions before this date and use the Month, Day, and Year lists to set the appropriate date.

    2. Select whether contributions made to this solicitation must be approved: Choose one of the following:

      • Require approval of contributions made to this solicitation. Submitted content must be approved before it appears on the page or email.

      • Clear the selection to specify that no approval is required and that submitted content can appear immediately.

  6. Click Next.

  7. On the Collection page, select the collections where you want to send the solicitation and click Add.

  8. Click Next.

  9. On the Note page:

    1. Type your return email address: Type the email address where replies to this solicitation request will be sent.

    2. Type the subject of your email: Type the subject line that potential contributors see when they receive this solicitation request.

    3. Type a note to your contributors: Type information about your request and why contributors received the information. Include instructions for filling in the content form, the information you want, information about where constituents can see the content, the content approval process, and important due dates.

  10. Click Send Solicitation Now. The system sends the content solicitation to members of the collections you selected.
