Display Email Interests to Constituents

When multicenter is enabled, the CONS_EMAIL_PREF_CENTER_DISPLAY site option specifies how centers (and center interests) display on the constituent-facing email preferences page. Possible values include DEFAULT, MEMBER, ALL, and a comma-separated list of center IDs.

Tip: These settings apply only if you are using the Email Preferences page for display. (In other words, CONS_EMAIL_PREF_USE_NEW_LAYOUT must also be set to TRUE.)

The table below lists hypothetical site and center interests in the left-hand column. The right-hand column shows how these interests display to constituents on their Email Preferences page given each of the possible settings for this site option.

InterestsSite Option Settings
  • General 1 (site-wide)
  • General 2 (site-wide)
  • Site-Wide 1 (category other than General)
  • Site-Wide 2 (category other than General)
  • Center 1 (Interest a)
  • Center 1 (interest b)
  • Center 2 (interest a)
  • Center 2 (interest b)
  • Center 3 (interest a)
  • Center 3 (interest b)
When set for the site, the settings display centers and interests as follows:
  • DEFAULT – shows all interests in a flat list (alphabetically); there is no indication of which interests are site-wide or associated with individual centers
  • MEMBER – shows all of the Gs, Ss, and Cs (for the centers where the constituent is a member)
  • ALL – shows all interests organized by Site and Centers
  • Comma-separated list of center IDs (such as 1002,1021) – shows the Gs, Ss, and Cs (for the centers specified by the IDs, regardless of which centers the constituent is a member of)

When set for a specific center, on the Center-Level options page:
The center setting (CDP) overrides the site-level setting only when the constituent views the email preferences page in the context of a single center (in center-mode)

Note:

  • Mistyping or entering a value other than the specified options results in a value of DEFAULT.

  • Center IDs are available on the Center Details page for each center.

  • These site-option settings apply to site-wide email preference pages; when constituents access their email preferences page within the context of a single center (in center-mode), the constituent sees the same display, plus any interests for that center (even if those interests would not be shown on the site-wide email preferences page)

  • As noted in the table, when these options are set for a specific center on the Center-Level options page, the center setting (CDP) overrides the site-level setting only when the constituent views the email preferences page in the context of a single center (in center-mode).
