Participant Center Upgrades

In TeamRaiser > Participant Centers, the Version Info column shows whether or not the Participant Center is current. If it is Not Current, you can upgrade to the latest version.

Tip: As a best practice, upgrade a copy your current Participant Center. Test the update, then switch to the updated version.

Note: Participant Centers version 3.x are optimized for mobile and tablet views and feature a complete redesign. The choice between version 2.x or 3.x is a site setting. To use version 3.x instead of 2.x, contact Blackbaud. For more details, refer to Participant Center 3

If you plan to use an updated Participant Center in a current TeamRaiser event, schedule the switch at an appropriate time, as it will be unavailable to participants for a few moments. Consider sending a Coaching Email to all current participants to inform them of this brief downtime.

Customization considerations

Customized or imported Participant Centers require specific steps before upgrading, including creating a test file first. If you've modified the JavaScript, we recommend disabling your custom JavaScript file during the upgrade (this option is available on the Upgrade page) and re-enabling it afterward to troubleshoot any JavaScript errors. The custom.js file is not replaced, but new code may cause issues if changes were made.

When a Participant Center is upgraded, all files within its folder are deleted except for the Custom Style Sheet (custom.css), Microsoft Custom Style Sheet (custom_ie.css), and Custom JavaScript (custom.js) files. The newest PC2 files are then copied into the folder. This means any customizations to files in the existing Participant Center and any files not in the current PC2 code base will no longer be available.

To avoid problems, create a new Participant Center with a similar name first. Compare the files in both folders to check for customizations you want to keep, including dependencies between files, and then merge any existing customizations into the new files of the newly created Participant Center.
