Understanding Question Construction

The type of question to construct depends on the type of response you want to elicit. You can construct a:

  • CAPTCHA question (or challenge) to increase the chances that a person is submitting the registration page instead of a non-human (such as a software bot) by challenging the participant to enter the graphical string of letters and numbers exactly in order to submit the page

  • Caption question to explain, provide instructions, or divide a set of questions on the registration form

  • Date Value question to get a Month, Day, and Year response from each participant registering for the TeamRaiser event

  • Hidden Interest Update question to automatically place a checkmark in the checkboxes of predefined web content or email interest categories in the constituent Profile (also called the contact record) of each participant who submits a registration page containing the question

  • Hidden Text Update question to add a defined value to a field in the constituent Profile (also called the contact record) of each participant who submits a registration page containing the question

  • Hidden True/False Update question to add the TRUE or FALSE value to a field to a field in the constituent Profile (also called the contact record) of each participant who submits a registration page containing the question

  • Interest Categories question to have each participant select the checkboxes of the web and email content in which they are most interested

  • Multiple Choice Combo Box question to have each participant select their preferred choice from a drop-down list of several predefined options or enter a different option not in the list

  • Multiple Choice Multiple Response question to have each participant select several preferred choices from a drop-down list of options

  • Multiple Choice Single Response (Drop Down) question to have each participant select their preferred choice from a drop-down list of predefined options

  • Multiple Choice Single Response (Radio Buttons) question to have each participant select their preferred choice from a series of choices containing selectable radio buttons

  • Numeric Value question to have each participant answer a question with a number

  • Rating Scale question to have each participant express their opinion about the perceived quality of an item

  • Short Text Value question to have each participant enter their own free-form response in up to 40 letters, numbers, or spaces from the keyboard
