About Expedited Giving and Expedited Giving Plus

Expedited Giving for YourCause from Blackbaud helps nonprofits receive donations and grant payments faster. When a payment qualifies, funds move through expedited disbursement paths that reduce processing time and help approved donations and grants reach your organization sooner.

Expedited Giving includes two options:

  • Expedited Giving

  • Expedited Giving Plus (shown in the product as Expedited Giving +)

Both options are designed to help eligible funds reach nonprofits more quickly than standard disbursement methods.

Note: Not all donations and grant payments qualify for expedited processing. Eligibility depends on factors such as payment type, disbursement configuration, and how the donating organization has configured its giving programs. Chapter organizations receive disbursements through their parent organization and cannot connect to a Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account or qualify for Expedited Giving or Expedited Giving Plus separately.

Benefits of Expedited Giving

Faster access to funds

Eligible nonprofits may receive approved donations and grant payments sooner than through standard disbursement methods. Faster processing can help your organization access funds more quickly and improve cash flow for your programs and missions.

More visibility into payment activity

When expedited payments are processed, transaction details remain available through your existing Blackbaud tools and reporting experiences. Depending on how funds are disbursed, you may also be able to view additional payment information through your connected disbursement accounts like Blackbaud Integrated Payments.

How Expedited Giving works

Expedited Giving shortens the time between payment approval and nonprofit receipt. Instead of following standard disbursement cycles, eligible payments are routed through expedited processing paths.

Which expedited option is used depends on:

  • The type of payment being made

  • How the donating organization has configured its giving programs

  • How your organization receives disbursements in Blackbaud Verified Network

To receive eligible expedited payments, your organization must use an electronic disbursement method in Blackbaud Verified Network, such as:

  • ACH direct deposit

  • A Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account

Note: Some payment types may continue to follow standard disbursement methods. Donations and grant payments disbursed by check or through global processing partners are not eligible for expedited processing.

Expedited Giving options

Expedited Giving

With Expedited Giving, eligible donations and grant payments are processed through expedited disbursement paths using the Blackbaud Giving Fund.

To receive payments through Expedited Giving:

  • Your organization must have an electronic disbursement method - ACH direct deposit or Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account - configured in Blackbaud Verified Network.

  • The payment must meet the eligibility requirements established by the donating organization.

Expedited Giving Plus

With Expedited Giving Plus, eligible employee credit card donations are routed directly to your organization's Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account. This reduces processing steps and can help funds reach your organization even faster.

To receive payments through Expedited Giving Plus:

  • Your organization must connect an active Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account in Blackbaud Verified Network.

  • The donation must be an eligible credit card donation.

Note: Chapter organizations cannot connect their own Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account in Blackbaud Verified Network. Expedited Giving Plus eligibility is managed through the parent organization.

For setup instructions and eligibility details, see Connect Blackbaud Integrated Payments for Disbursements.

If your organization does not have a merchant account, see the Get Started tutorial in the Blackbaud Integrated Payments Help.

Refunds and chargebacks

Expedited Giving and Expedited Giving Plus use different disbursement paths. Refund and chargeback handling differ between the two options.

Expedited Giving Plus

Expedited Giving Plus donations are processed through your organization's Blackbaud Integrated Payments merchant account. You can issue a refund directly from your Blackbaud Integrated Payments account. If a donor disputes a credit card transaction with their bank instead, the bank sends a chargeback request directly to your organization. You respond to the chargeback from your Blackbaud Integrated Payments account.

Expedited Giving

Expedited Giving donations are processed through the Blackbaud Giving Fund and presented to donors as irrevocable gifts. These donations generally can't be refunded. If a donor disputes the transaction with their bank, Blackbaud disputes the chargeback on your organization's behalf. Blackbaud uses the irrevocable-gift language shown to the donor at checkout as supporting evidence.

The credit card company makes the final decision. Your organization does not need to take action.

Note: Transaction fees are not refunded.

For instructions on issuing a refund or responding to a chargeback, see Refund Transactions and Chargebacks in Blackbaud Integrated Payments Help.
